Give Your Lifestyle a Healthy Spring Cleaning

Give Your Lifestyle a Healthy Spring Cleaning!

Spring is in the air, and with the re-emergence of sunshine, green grass, and warmer weather, many of us start to think about spring cleaning. While spring cleaning usually refers to cleaning the house, it’s also a great time to clean up your lifestyle. Such changes include healthier eating, being more active, and weight loss. This is especially true after a long winter of being curled up on the couch with snacks and television.

We have a few ideas for ways to start your commitment to a healthier lifestyle and taking care of your body, which will of course boost your mind and spirit!

Find a Group Activity that You Love—Outdoors!

After a long winter hibernation, it can be hard to find inspiration to get up and moving. To find this inspiration, heading outside in the warmer weather may be just the ticket.  While working out solo is fine, you may discover that joining a sports team, fitness class or running club helps push you stick to a workout routine, as you will be getting more variety in your activities and are making a commitment to attend at a set time. When exercising with others you receive encouragement, motivation, and can even make new friends that have the same lifestyle goals.

One such activity is an outdoor boot camp. A great advantage of outdoor boot camps is that they give you access to certified personal trainers at a much lower cost than if you were to commit to one-on-one sessions. Once you learn the exercises and proper techniques this will help enhance your solo gym sessions as well. There are several outdoor boot camps available in Toronto as well! If you already belong to a gym, many offer boot camps as well. If boot camps aren’t your thing, you could also try a free running club. There are clubs available for all levels of runners, even if you just want to start out walking. In Toronto, there are free running clubs offered by the Running Room and Lululemon.

Sign Up for Meal Plans or Deliveries

Using a meal plan or delivery service can be a great way to stay motivated and maintain healthy eating habits. In a perfect world, we would have all the time we needed to shop for fresh, local ingredients, prep, and cook healthy meals. The reality is that we often don’t have the time or resources to achieve this! This can result in us stopping for takeout or making poorer food choices in general. Using meal delivery services, which have exploded in popularity over the past few years, is an excellent way to make sure you are making healthy choices and staying committed to your goals. In Toronto, companies such as HelloFresh or Chefs Plate provide healthy recipes along with all the necessary ingredients for you to cook the meals yourself.  Other services in Toronto such as Low Calorie Plans take it one step further. They offer fully prepped meals for your day, based on the number of calories you are aiming to consume. The calorie count is based on your goals, such as just healthy lifestyle or weight loss. All these options are delivered right to your doorstep!

Kick-start Fat Loss with Coolsculpting

Many have the misconception that Coolsculpting is something to do instead of diet and exercise, but that is simply not the case! Coolsculpting can be a great way to give you that push you need to take care of your body. Have you ever felt unmotivated to start eating healthier or work out more because your goals seem unattainable? The truth is that it is never too late to start! Coolsculpting can help kick-start these results so that you have guaranteed changes in a couple months time. Many find that this is a great way to be motivated to keep working towards their goals. When you see some positive results, you are excited to continue and be further rewarded.

Another great option for Coolsculpting is for when you reach a plateau. Anyone who has tried to commit to weight loss or to toning their body knows how frustrating it can be when you reach a plateau—no matter how hard you try, you just can’t seem to lose that last 15-20 pounds of fat around the hips, thighs, or abdomen. While Coolsculpting cannot guarantee weight loss, it will help reduce the appearance of any lasting bulge so that you are looking and feeling your very best. Treat Yourself—and Often

While a lot of time we think about being healthier or being more active with a weight loss goal in mind, it’s not all about the destination. The truth is that it should be about the journey along the way, as your commitment to healthy diet and exercise should be life-long. That’s why it’s a great idea to focus more on celebrating the small victories. Goals can be related to weight, like celebrating every 10 pounds lost, but you can set up other goals as well. For example, a goal could also be strength or endurance related  (I can now do 5 chin ups, I can run 2k, etc.) if you do not want to focus on weight. Setting up smaller goals can help keep you on track with staying healthy. While celebrating with a cheat meal may be fun, it’s better not to think of junk food as a reward. Some examples of rewards could be a spa massage, a mani/pedi, or even new clothes or workout gear. Whatever you decide to treat yourself with, the real reward will be how good you look and feel being healthy!
